Having travelled extensively before making New Zealand their home in 1993, Emil and Hea Min Horvath-Gerber settled by first farming and then building Chalet Eiger in one of the most exclusive and beautiful locations in Taupo. With their European and Asian backgrounds, they understand many International cultures and languages which allow them to uniquely care for their International visitors. Kiwis get the experience of an International holiday without having to leave New Zealand. They have found this mix of cultures is what makes their Chalet unique – after all, anyone can build an outstanding lodge or employ a Chef to serve gourmet food. But it is the hosts that will make you feel special.

Hea Min is also a professional Chef and nutritionist and with their New Zealand farming experience, are very particular about using food supplies from artisan producers all over New Zealand or using home grown organic vegetables. The combined result of world class hospitality, gourmet food and stunning accommodation is to provide a retreat to allow couples to reconnect, provide a much deserved magical holiday or allow productive business planning meetings to occur.

What is unique about Chalet Eiger is the personal service. By keeping the Chalet small and boutique, Emil and Hea Min offer both a Kiwi (New Zealand) and International experience. Hea Min extends this personalisation by providing the gourmet food experience.
